No. All of Meguiar's pure polishes are non-abrasive, they don't wear down the finish at all. They don't build up either so you can polish as often as you like with them.

Don't assume the word polish to mean something with abrasives in it, this may be true of other companies products but not Meguiar's since 1901.

Hey, it's like Mike said, "Find something you like and use it often". My car looks great each time, and while a little unneccessary in most eyes, I'm keeping Meguiar's in business.

It's hard to explain why, I just think my car looks better after it has been waxed. Maybe I am not using the right sequence, or the right products. But generally every weekend (May through October) I:

      Wash with DC soap
      Clay (when it needs it)
      Polish (#7)
      Wax (NXT Liquid)
      QD

I do most of polishing/waxing with a radom orbital, but with all the raves about the G-100 I might get one of those.

You'll never regret it. It's lightweight and you can adjust the speed setting for the task at hand. If you like and have the hand and arm strength, you can hold it in one hand which can come in hand for applying a pure polish or a wax.

Sorry djlockdown, I kind of jumped on this thread, but I have one more question. Where can you buy the G-100? I just looked on Meg's E-Store and couldn't find it. Can anyone lead me in the right direction.

Thanks I appreciate it, however, with a little research, I would like to know why the G-100 listed on Meg's site is $225 and comes with about 3 things and then there is this:

autodetailingsolutions.com/Porter%20Cable%20Specials [edited for commercial link; 2hotford]

Seems like a no brainer, especially if it has a lifetime warranty. Does the G-100 on Meg's site offer any kind of deal like this?

The G-100 on that autodetailingsolutions.com site, you wouldnt think that would be refurbished would you?

              Mike, Tim, anyone?

The reason for the price differences gets kind of complex and has to do with different levels of distribution.

The unit Rick sells is a brand new unit.

I have always found it to be backwards to do anything after waxing afterall anything you do removes wax.

Sure washing a car is wax safe if done properly, but you always loose a little bit. If you polish, you will loose some... The only thing that doesn't remove wax is waxing

It makes sence to me to get all of the defects out first and make the paint as good as possible. After the paint is pristine, you add your wax and it should look very good.

Think of the wax as a second much weaker, softer clear coat. One that is intended to take a beating so your paint doesn't have too.

The only reason I could think someone might polish their wax is to attempt to make it as shiny as possible. I mean, I guess it is possible to have defects in a wax job too, but it shouldn't matter much.
