  • What's Needed?

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. I don't think the previous owner waxed or polished the car for the first 10 years of the car's life. The hood is the worst. It has tinly what looks like scratches or nicks. There are a few spots were the paint is missing. I've cleaned up the truck pretty good but I want to find out if there is anything else I can do. Since March of this year I've washed the Explorer just about every week. I've used all of the following:

    NXT Paste Wax
    Gold Class Liquid Wax
    Clay Bar
    Deep Crystal System Paint Cleanser
    Deep Crystal System Polish
    NXT Speed Detailer
    ScratchX

I'm starting to have swirl marks and I thought the polish would go away after I polished the truck. I polished it for the first time just last week then I waxed what I polished. It's kind of hard to explain what kind of nicks they are. They are only noticeable if you are up close to the car. What else can I use or do to clean the truck up. The truck is really in excellent condition just needs some work with the hood. Sorry for the long post but let me know what I should get or try. By the way all of the things were applied by hand.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Kyle

Working by hand, scratchX is the strongest thing you can get. Be sure to read the how to remove scraches with scratchX article i nthe how to section, just to make sure you have done everything right. It needs worked in more and repllied unlike other products.

The clay bar and ScratchX are what are going ot prep your paint, so if the swirls/scratches arent reduced/removed to your liking after that, the polish and wax arent going to do anything more.
