  • NXT Overnight

I under-estimated the time to wash/dry my car. By the time I applied the NXT paste wax, there was no more sunlight.

So, all I could do was to finish applying the NXT all over the car and left it overnight. I will take off the wax (by hand) tomorrow. Is this OK?

Probably, as long as no dust (or rain) gets on the paint. I hope you parked the car inside overnight.

Yes, the car is parked in the garage. Too bad there is no light in the garage.

Probably it will be harder to take off the wax tomorrow.

I think with the NXT it will be OK. Mike purposely left NXT on for several hours to see how easily it would wipe off and he had no problems at all.

Yeah... not great, but probably not bad either.

According to another forum I read somewhere, since it is a synthetic wax, it is supposed to be left on overnight to set up correctly

that means after the wipe down, leave vehicle untouched for 24 hours to allow nxt to bond. in other words wax like you would normally, but no water or any type of QD untill next day. also better to apply the second coat the next day as opposed to the same day but I have to brake that rule of thumb alot and have had no problems.

In hot weather, the cure time is probably a lot shorter, maybe even just a few hours.

After keeping the car with NXT in a closed garage overnight (for about 11 hours at 20c) , I did the wipe down this morning. I did not see the difference probably because my car is silver colour.

As for cure time, the NXT was either bonded completely before the wipe-down or the wipe-down actually disturbed the bond process.

                      Hey,

                      Just to chime in...

Allowing the product to sit on the surface too long before removal could lead to streaking. Hence the 15 minute time frame suggested and the recommendation in using the Swipe Test for product removal.

If there are streaks, then apply a second coat of NXT and remove after doing the Swipe Test.

I am sure it will be just fine!

Since I have a garage and no one is walking around in it I leave my cars sit for several hours before removing NXT.
Left it on my wifes FORD Explorer for 60 hours and it wipes off just fine. In fact I think that the longer you wait the easier it is to remove.

If you did that with a carnauba paste wax, you would be in a world of hurt! But with NXT or MPPP you would be fine. In cool temperatures, waiting that long is almost mandatory for MPPP.

They meant leave the actual wax on the car overnight and then wipe it off the next morning.

I'm not sure I understand you. If I do, meguiars doesn't say you need to leave the wax on for 24 hours, and than wipe. you are to apply it let it set up for 15 minutes or so, do a swipe test, if ready you can remove nxt and than leave untouched for 24 hours so it can bond, than you can apply any second coats or QD ect. If someone else told you to let it set on there for 24 hours before you wipe it off, that would be incorrect, all though as you just heard it probably wouldn't hurt anything.
the pic you have for your avatair, can I ask where you got it from. That is the sweetest mustang I've seen yet!
