yes sir it does. That is why you must at a minimum rewax the car after claying. However, I highly reccomend pre-cleaning, polishing and then waxing.

Mike has pointed out that Meguiar's official word on this is that their clays do remove existing wax at least to some extent.

We were just discussing this on another thread, and while my experiences seem to be a little uncommon, I have to say "it depends".

It depends on the clay and how you use it. I've been spot-claying at almost every wash since detailing clay came out in the early '90s. It hardly ever has an appreciable effect on my LSP. I've clayed some areas many times without removing the LSP. But I'm *very* gentle when I clay. I "clay the contamination off the LSP" as opposed to "claying the LSP off the paint". But it seems like you should be prepared to refresh your LSP when you clay- you'll just have to see what happens when you do it.

i clayed and went ahead and used dc #1 just to be sure that the the old wax was gone. i love the look of show car glaze topped with nxt wax. i just have to leave it alone this time and not anything else to it. lol.

That was probably the best approach anyhow. Nothing wrong with really cleaning the paint
