  • NXT or #26???

I'm new to this forum, but I have used Meguiar's products for about 30 years. My favorite is using #7 followed by #26. I always get compliments on how well my cars, motorcycles, boat look better than new. But now I see the NXT products. Are they better than the old reliable #7 & #26? Last longer? I'm curious as to what other think. Thanks

    Hi cycle rider,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

NXT Generation Tech Wax is a new wax formula introduced by Meguiar's first in a liquid version initially in the winter of 2003, at that time it was known as Lab Sample D. We introduced a paste version this year for those that prefer to apply a paste wax. NXT Tech Wax is unique among Meguiar's waxes in that it was formulated from the ground up using all new chemistry including Meguiar's Engineered Synthetic Polymers, or ESP's.

It's kind of hard to categorically state that one Meguiar's wax is better than another Meguiar's wax because part of this equation is based upon the user and their preferences. It's one of those things where you'll have to give the product a try in order to determine if you like it better than a product like #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax or any of our other waxes.

It does produce excellent results on all paint types however. Here's a 1956 Ford F150 that was machine cleaned using a few products from Meguiar's 80's series in our Professional Line and then topped with two coats of NXT Tech Wax.

The above truck is actually painted a single stage black paint, no clear coat.

NXT is a polymer sealant so you can't really compare it #26, its like comparing apples to oranges. M21 professional sealant can be compared to NXT Tech wax if you want to choose between the two.

In most cases, I would agree, but not in this case. Meguiar's #21 and NXT were both designed to have the best traits of the polymer and the carnauba in one product. As such, both the #21 or NXT have the bright reflective look of a polymer but also the deep wet look of a carnauba, all in one package.

Meguiar's #26 is a blended wax and not a pure carnauba. So in a sense, it too is trying to find a balance.

In the end, NXT or #21 will leave your paint looking, deep, rich and wet!

Hi Tim, so is NXT regarded as a sealant or just a wax ?

If you consider a wax to be something that contains a natural wax like Carnauba wax, and a paint sealant to be something created with only man-made synthetic materials, then M21 and NXT are both paint sealants.

Regardless, the umbrella category for these types of products is, Paint Protectants because they protect the paint. All products in this category seal the paint no matter what words are used to describe them.

              Does that help?

Thanks Mike, in fact somebody ask about this question in our local forum, so I thought posting the question here to get some answer.

So I think it will be alright to reply them saying NXT is a sealant. Thanks for the reply again .

On my Silver Contour SVT, I have found that NXT or #20 topped w/ #26 gives me the most depth and reflection. If I'm in the mood for sheer reflection, I'll stop w/ the NXT or #20.
