I think you meant you tried #20 over the winter as #21, a Synthetic Sealant, was not available to the public until the Spring.

No, I have and have used NXT prior last winter , but topped with #16 since i didn't trust NXT's durability by itself and M21(the purple liquid) since March 2005 and I do not aquire my supplies through local public outlets.

Where are you obtaining this information regarding sacrificial barrier thickness of carnuabas versus polymers? Can you please cite your scientific sources of information. Thanks!

Sometimes we have to use common sense since common sense is not too common anymore and everyone these days especially politicians all rely on studies and more studies and the results are sometimes not black and white as we suspect, but rather it becomes grey, you can actually see with the naked eye that old school carnuaba waxes buildup on the paint case in point alot of people have already posted about #16 streaking or hard to remove after applying and not removing right away, the streaking is actually a buildup of wax in that particular area versus the areas that were applied with a thin coat, so carnuaba waxes do build up, a simple test is to apply a bead of wax on a glass panel and let it dry for several days and will see which product dries the hardest and the sheer strength required to sheer it off the glass panel. If you have read guru's report on wax durability, you will see Collinite's 476S rank in the top five with P21S being ahead, but then most of us in the detailing trade would disagree with that conclusion too based on our real world experiences.

Modern doctors have never accepted acupuncture or herbal medicine as a viable treatment simply because they cannot explain how it works after hundreds and thousands of studies, but people have been using it for thousands and thousands of years with great success.

I'd go with NXT Paste (two layers, a day apart to ensure complete coverage) or #20 (one layer is fine, two to ensure complete coverage, but #20's cleaners seem a touch stronger so it won't really layer). You can pop for a half gallon of #21 but for most people, they'd never use that much of it in a reasonable amount of time to make the cost worth it. I do hear that a couple of places are selling a 12 ounce version but I don't know who.

After NXT Paste or #20, wait a day for the polymer's to cure, then top with #16 Paste if you can locate it, or #26, which is pretty durable too.

          Great advice thanks

On Saturday these are the steps I used.

          wash
          clay
          dc 1 cleaner
          dc 2 polish
          NXT liquid x2

should I wait a day to put on some good yellow wax? However the truck sat out all night and has dust on it {very light} Should I wash it again then aply the yellow wax or just use the detail spay to clean the dust off? I can't find any of the sealers #20 or #21 anywhere in Calgary I've looked. So will NXT wax do a good job or should I top it with the yellow wax.

Thanks again for all your help. Pete

Yes, you should rewash it and wait 24 hours for the polymer in NXT to cure before applying a layer of carnuaba wax, but it would make more sense if you waited a week for the next car wash to apply the carnuaba so your hard work of applying and the beauty of NXT is not wasted.

You will not be able to find Meg's Professional products through retail outlets, but the closest thing you can find that resembles carnuaba wax is Meg's Step 3 Crystal Carnuaba Wax $13.99cdn or Mother's 100% Pure Carnuaba at any Canadian Tire for $24.99cdn.

This one reason I don't like polymer based products(with the exception of a certain Z product ...LoL) as a detailer is the cure time. Trying explaining this to your customers that they need to come back in a day or a week !

lol zymol isn't even that great lol
you can get it at candian tire for a dollar more than gold glass but i still prefer gold class because i think it offer supperiour reults on my 300zx and plus zymol has to be removed with cold water and alot of elbow grease lol more effort and inferiour results :p i wold go with gold class with a thin coat of #26 on top. i dont know if its just me but the NXT wax is more of a wax that you would apply before a show(doesn't last -40 with wind chill). PS: i dont know that much my this up coming winter will be my first wintre with my licence. although it did snow yesterday
