HammerDown....I too bought my first black vehicle this year about 3 months ago...not knowing how challenging it was going to be, I went about the business of washing and waxing my new car like I had done for the last 30 years....wax on, wax off....well, needless to say, yuck....after about 4 months on this board, I've learned so much about the proper care of paint that it's amazing...the people here are the very best

Now, what's I've come to use on my black vehicle is the following:

    *NXT Car Wash
    *Quik Clay
*#80 Speed Glaze with PC - remove with MF towels
*ScratchX for etchings/water marks that I couldn't get with #80
*NXT Liquid Wax (tried paste but like the liquid better) with PC-
    also removed with MF towels
    *Quik Interior
    *Hot Shine for tires
    *NXT Glass Cleaner

I'm so happy I found this site in time...my car's finish will be pampered for the rest of it's life (with me anyway)...and I know these products work...but there's a lot more people with more experience than me on this board that I'm sure will chime in...good luck !!

Hmmmm, so even with the use of Meguiars (best) NTX Wax... your (still) getting etchings from water marks and have to use
      scratchX'
I'm looking for a wax/product that will protect good enough in the first place...know what I mean. Maybe I should look to another paint protection manufacture...3M, Mothers, Eagle etc...?

      However, thanks for your feedback

Hmm, I think TKDDAD meant water marks that were on there before he started using the PC, as well as any hard to reach areas.

Incidently, you could try #83 if there are any other stubborn imperfections that #80 wont remove.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but nothing you can pour out of a bottle and wipe on your car with a towel can give that kind of protection, period.

If the armies of scientists at Dupont, PPG, BASF, Akzo Nobel, et al, with billions of dollars of R&D at there disposal can't make a thick film, factory applied, oven baked, catalyzed polymer coating that's impervious to the environment nobody is going to come along with some miracle goo that is. Chemistry doesn't work that way.
