How long has it been since you had the hood painted?
Is there any paint defects on other parts of the car? You could try the 80 series by hand if you want, but I would recommend using the 80 series with G100/PC. If your are plan on keeping your vehicle in tip top shape then g100/pc is an excellent machine and investment.

I PM'ed you two people in your area who may be able to help you fix the problem, but they probably are not cheap.

The last article that Mike posted looks to be the one that matches your problem.

I actually did this to my wife's hood and bumper about a month ago on accident. The polishing pad I was using got ripped on an emblem and left a hanging part on the side of the pad and it put the marks in there.

Get the DA and do it yourself!!
It's cheaper and easy to do. I used #83 with a W-8006 and the DA and it took the marks right out the first time I used it!

Now if I could only get the pits and etchings to go away!

RLdetail, can you help me out with the DA, #83, and the W-8006. A little confused on the abbreviations.

          thanks Vince!

            I'll help you on those:

DA = Meg's Dual Action Polisher G100 (Porter Cable)
Meg's #83 DACP = Dual Action Cleaner Polish
            W-8006 = Meguiar's 6.5" Foam Polishing Pad

              Tim!

              Thank you so much.

Thus far I have started detailing the hood all by hand. Two coats of Scratch X, two coats of the Deep Crystal system polish, and one coat of the NXT Generation Wax (maybe I should do another coat of the NXT Generation). Looking forward to see how it will look in the sun tomorrow. Really anxious to find out if the swirl marks are gone. They usually reappear after the vehicle gets washed the first time. Crossing my fingers.

When applying the Scratch X instead of a circular motion use a side to side motion. you may have to do this at least 2 times, then apply 2 coats of NXT Generation Tech Wax paste. I did this to remove swrill marks from my newly pained 1988 GMC S15 and it still looks good. give it a try. I think you will like it.

I used Swirl Remover 2.0 by hand on my hood scoop and it left a lot of swirls (don't ask...). One application of ScratchX took em all out.

I am hoping for the best in this situation.

GrumpyGrampy, 2 cotas of NXT Generation worked best. I will be applying a 2nd coat tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

Roushstage2, quick question. did you do it all by hand or use of a buffer?

Do all of it by hand, for now anyways...
