  • How to Clean and Polish

    Hello,

I am efficient at Washing and waxing.

I know I need to clay and now have enough info to do so.

I now want to do a cleaning and a polishing after the clay and before the wax.

    I.e.

    I want to

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Clean
    4. Polish
    5. Wax

My play is to wash with Nxt Wash then clay with Quick Clay and Quick Detailer. Then rinse and dry again.

After claying, I have been told I will still have some wax left behind from before... I have also read that some waxes discolor over time, but it is easily solved with a cleaner.

I have been told to use DC #1 as the cleaner. This should remove the wax too; I hope. Also, is DC #1 safe on new car paint? I.e. not abrasive or not very abrasive? Is DC #1 easy to use for a novice?

For the polish, I have been told to use DC #2, which is a Pure Polish? It has been said this is not abrasive. Is that correct?

I have no questions about waxing now, and I am aware that I will need to re-wax when done.

Will the above work on a new car?

I never had the wax I use to discolor the paint. And I use Meguair's NXT wax. That's stuff work's good. This is the way I clean a car:

    1. wash
    2. dry
    3. clay if needed
    4. wax every 5 washes

      Cool.

I have never had a wax discolor the car either.

However, I have heard that carnuba turns from clear to yellowish amberish when exposed to various elements overtime. I.e. it traps stuff and changes color.

My guess would be that it wears off long before this ever happens though.

Howerver, cleaning claying... takes care of it and most people wont' notice it.
