  • N00bie ?

I washed, clay barred, and waxed my car. Now it is slightly dirty and I have the Quick Detailer, but I wanted to know if I should use a car duster on the car 1st or just use the Quick Detailer. Also when I use the Quick Detailer should I put it on the microfiber cloth or directly on my car's surface. I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx 2+2 N/A. Thanks.

How dirty is it? A duster could put scratches in the paint.

      Hey Spyder Z 15

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

If the paint has 'heavy' dust as in dust that has mixed with morning dew, then I would re-wash the car. If the dust is 'light', then I would use the Meg's Body Duster followed with the Quik Detailer. Make sure to mist the paint with the QD and also on a MF towel. Wipe the QD over the area with the MF towel and then use a second, dry, MF towel to remove the QD residue. Use light pressure when applying and removing.

I'm not a fan of the duster being used on a car. Because if there is a coat of dust on it and the duster is being used on the paint won't the dust get trapped in the duster and cause scratches.

Well, they are supposed to work fine, good quality ones of course, but there is a fine line between light dust and heavy dust. I'd rather not risk it and just leave the dust until I wash.

The whole idea of the Body Duster is that it will lift the light dust away from the paint thereby preventing any marring. However, like anything, one must use light pressure when using the duster on the paint. I have been using the Meg's Body Duster on my personal vehicles without a problem. Again, that is with light dust only. If in doubt, I would wash the paint instead.

Thanks for the replys. It was a light coat, but then it rained all of a sudden. Damn California weather. So I will probably rewash it again this weekend. Should I still use the Quick Detailer after I wash the car?
BTW-Here's a pic after I waxed the car.

After washing a car, it is more beneficail to use something like Quick Wax, or Nxt Spray Wax, to add shine and a little protetion.
