  • Cleaning Micro Fibers, Terry Cloths, Applicators, etc.

Sorry about another post dealing with cleaning towels and applicators but I've read some of the other posts and I figured I needed to post one to deal with my current situation just so I can be sure. I need help on how to clean these products that I have:

    *Supreme Shine Microfibers
    *Ultra Plush Super Terry Cloths
    *High Tech Applicators
    *Even Coat Applicators
    *Water Magnet Drying Towels
    *Ultra Plush Wash Mits

After using the applicators, microfiber & terry cloths I've rinsed them in warm water until the water is clear and then cold water just for another rinse and then I wring them out and let them air dry. I haven't used them again because I knew I needed to find out the proper way to wash them.

Now here's what I know, never use bleach or fabric softeners, wash microfibers and terry cloths separately, and use a regular liquid detergent (please give me ideas as to which kind to use).

One thing, I got a grudge against just putting my towels in a washing machine in which my mom uses clorox bleach and woolite fabric softeners all the time. And because I had an incident in the past in which I put 6 Ultra Plush Terry Towels in the washing machine and then put them in the dryer, out came the towels with lint on them. So I called the customer care number and asked them if it was normal that they come out of the dryer with lint and if it would be safe to use them and they said no.

I made a mistake, the only thing we had was tide with bleach and tide with a touch of downy. Which I used. And the Meguiar's customer service rep was really generous and just said he'd send me some new ones which I've received already and am extremely grateful.

Any recommendations would be helpful I just don't want to make a mistake like that again.

    A few more questions:

*The even coat applicators feel like microfibers...can i wash these with the microfibers?

*What can I wash the regular applicator pads/ or water magnet drying towel with, or would it be best to wash separately?

*Is it safe to wash the terry towels that I've used for the rims to take off brake dust after using Meguiar's Hot Rims? Never the less use the same towels for interior/exterior care after washing them?

*What signs should I look for in these cloths and applicator pads to show that they're just plain worn out and I need to get some new ones.

And for the wash mitt I normally just rinse it off really well and then wring it out....but after around 6-7 uses it's not as plush as it use to be, is it ok just to continue washing cars with it and rinsing it thoroughly after? Or is using the washing machine in the case fixing the problem? Or maybe it's just time to get a new one?

Please be as specific as possible.

I need all the help I can get for all of these questions/problems. And THANK YOU ALL soo much in advance for taking the time to help me out.

I personally wash my wax/polish applicators by hand with dish soap, then wring them out real good and hang them up to
    air dry.

I have washed my water magnet with microfiber towels
and nothing bad happened to it.
( usually those get washed with Woolite Cold Water Wash )
generic names of Woolite are "cold water wash" or
    "wool wash"

terry cloth towels get washed separate again I use the woolite
product for those too ( keeps them soft ) ( warm water wash
for terry cloth towels and microfiber. )
you could use a little detergent with them too, just make sure
as you know it cannot contain bleach or fabric softener

after they are washed you can put them in the dryer ( clean the
lint screen first ) on low heat setting only
don't put the terry cloth towels in the dryer with the microfiber
    towels
( when drying your terrycloth towels, clean the lint screen half way
through the cycle ( the giant cotton ball slows down the drying process )

I usually dry the microfiber towels first, that way they won't pick
up any lint from the terrycloth towels ( if you dried them first )

before I do any of the above steps I pre-soak terrycloth towels
in one bucket with woolite cold water wash and a touch of
    oxy power crystals.

in the other bucket is the microfiber towels soaking with some
woolite and a touch of oxy power clean crystals
I soak them for a day prior to washing them.

well I hope some,or all of this info helps
    you with your cleaning proceedure.

So I should get Woolite cold water wash but always use warm water? And you've answered my main problem and most of the other ones. Thank You.
