  • Recommendation Buffing Cloth for #16

    Hi Guys!

I've been using MF cloth to buff off #16.

It's too soft and whenever I buff #16, the cloth just scrambled.

Is there any recommendation for good buffing cloth from Meguiars?

I know hard cloth is easier to buff but will it create swirl?

    Thanks for the advise.

First, make sure you're only applying very thin coats. This is vital as M16 is a true hard wax.

Second, find your softest, 100% cotton terry cloth towels and use these as the nap will help to slice into and break up the continuous layer of M16.

Third, break the wax in one area and then creep out from that area taking little bites using a circular motion.

(Breaking Wax, or Break The Wax is a term that means to break-up the continuous film of wax in one area)

      Hi Mike,

I've been applying a very thin coat and breaking the wax like you mentioned.

The problem is my place is very humid and hot.

I don't think I can get Terry Towel here but is Ultimate Wipe recommended?

Meguiar's Ultimate Wipe is a microfiber polishing cloth.

We offer a very nice, soft plush 100% cotton towel in our new Gold Class Accessories line; I'm not sure if it's available where you live but you could always try ordering from another source.

Here's the link the the product and part number

        X2040 Ultra Plush Super Terry

I've used these to remove M16 and they work very well. Remember, removing M16 is not a fast process but a labor of love.

Oh. I was using other brand MF. Those are very cheap ones.

May be I should try ultimate wipe.

Yea. Labour of Love. Nice way to put it.

          Thanks Mike.

What I have found to work good for removing #16 is to first apply it so thin that you cannot see it on the paint. When I apply it this thin, it wipes off with ease with a microfiber towel. If I do get an area a little too thick and it is difficult to remove, I have found giving it a shot of #34 and then wiping takes it right off. I am not sure if using #34 in this manor is a good thing or not, maybe Mike can educate me on this. After all I am still quite new at this and always trying to learn.
And if you are concerned about not getting good enuff coverage applying it this thin, two thin coats is always better than one thick coat.
