  • New Car Detailing Advice

    Hi All,

Earlier today, I got a phone call from someone wanting me to detail their brand new Volvo sedan (not sure of the model yet), and I am trying to put together a selection of products to use on it.

After the usual washing & claying is done, I was thinking about using #80, or maybe #82 with the PC (Maybe a hand application of #81 too). Followed by either NXT, MPPP, or #26 as a LSP.

    What do you guys think?

Also, has anybody had any streaking issues with NXT on black Volvo paint?

    Thanks,
    r. b.

I would go with #26. I have no experience with volvo paint, but 26 has always been a sure win for me. New car detailing is the best.

      Thanks,

What do you think about my prep products?

On a new car, it is going to depend on what the dealer did to it.

Mine was in great shape, and claying made the biggest deifference. The other steps just added to it.

If it has come with swirls, then who knows, #80, #83, hard to say what would be needed.

I'd bring some #83 just in case the dealer induced swirls are present.

Thanks guys, I never even thought about that.

I'm not sure if the dealer did anything to this car or not. It seems that the owner had to go to Switzerland just to pick it up! (All expenses paid by Ford)

Strange, I've never heard of that before.

              Hey RB,

On a new car, after claying, I still like to use #80. I have found that it will add richness to the finish, regardless of color. I would then top it with NXT Tech Wax or #21 Synthetic Sealant.

Unless he picked it up “in the plastic” it’s pretty much guaranteed the dealer did something to it.

Picking it up in Switzerland sounds interesting. Assuming it was driven in Europe and then shipped over there’s plenty of opportunity for environmental exposure (which is probably why he’s having you detail it). Be prepared for almost anything.

                  PC.
I remember his father-in-law saying something about how the car was sealed in plastic, and then it was crated up for shipment.

That's an odd way to buy a car IMO.

Who ever heard of an automaker paying to send someone overseas to pick up their car? Couldn't Ford just send it over here themselves, and save a little money in the process?

I'm not criticizing here..........I'm just in wonderment of the process.
