  • scratch x a replacement for stage 1?

Since scratch x removes swirls and other paint problems, is it considered a step 1?

I clayed my car a month ago, so its still smooth, so can I just use:

    1. scratch x
    2. polish
    3. wax?

Going to use this procedure, since I used the meguiars swirl remover polish by hand, and it didnt take out most of the swirls.

    thanks

Also, whats the best way to apply scratch-x, with a foam applicator, or just a good ol cotton towel for extra power?

ScratchX is the most agressive cleaner you can use by hand. Also takes time and effort to apply, so perhaps not the best to use every time. Once you get the swirls out, its best to try and keep them out, and then switch to a milder cleaner, and use ScratchX for Touchups.

Your procedure looks fine to me.

You can apply ColorX either way. If you just need something mild, then use the foam. If you have some little swirls, oxidation, then use the cloth and be a bit more agressive. Do what suits your cars condition at that time.

I used your process this weekend on my car. I used scratchX as my stage one. I don't really have any swirl marks, but I did have a few minor scratches here and there that needed taken care of, so I did the whole car. Worked like a charm. I took out most all the scratches on the car. Now I can just use stage one cleaner in its place, now that the clear coat is in good shape.
