  • Just purchased 2005 G35 - what should be my first steps?

two weeks ago I got a new G35 coupe that is ivory pearl and i want to have a great shine and also protect it from what i think is some industrial fallout that has been attaching itself to the car lately. i currently have gold class products...

the thing about the fallout (yellowish brownish marks above the surface) is that when i remove it during a wash it leaves behind a yellow "stain" on the clearcoat and it drives me nuts. is this normal for a light colored car? (i've always had dark in the past)

you will want to clay to remove fallout on your car. the bad news is that the only way to really remove fallout is claying it so you might have to do it often if you get it alot. Nothing can really stop fallout from attachimg to your paint. SO you will want to start by washing and then clay the entire vehicle. I would reccomend polishing after this step. You can use scratch x on swirls followed by color x and then gold class wax or nxt. IF you are working via machine then #80 and nxt would look good.

the "rust" color spots are normal on a lighter color. Had them on an S-10 in fact I removed the emblems and replaced them with high quality vinyl decals... so I could remove the stains from around them with ease.
