  • Product Usage question

    Hello,

I have a question about my process. Normally I use Claybar, Med. Paint Cleaner, Swirl Remover, Show Car Glaze, and finally NXT(which I am replacing with #21). This process usually works well on my 04 black vette.

Recently, a detail shop rotary buffed my car. In the process they left some swirls in my paint. I have tried several applications of Swirl Remover but it did not seem to help. So, I got some DACP to try to help. The #83 worked great!

Here is my question, after #83 and before #21(replacing NXT wax), is the something I should use between the 2 and what pad? Like Show Car glaze?

    I have:

    Mild Claybar
    Medallion Paint Cleaner
    Scratch X
    #83
    #2
    #9
    #7
    #21
    NXT Wash
    NXT Wax
    G.C. Wash
    G.C. Wax
    Final Inspection
    P.C. 7335
    w-8006
    w-9006

    Thanks for your help,

    AZC5

    Hi AZC5,

A good product to follow the M83 with using the dual action polisher is the M80 Speed Glaze, it's a bit more aggressive than the M09, but still leaves an awesome, wet-look glow.

Since you have the #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 already, use it with your W-8006 foam polishing pad on the 4.5 setting and this should bring the M83 results to an even higher level while perfectly preparing the finish for wax.

When you're done, how about a picture?

Sorry about the delay, the phone's been ringing off the hook and it's hard to type and talk at the same time when outlining delicate procedures for working on paint!

If you haven't read this yet, read through it and treat the #9 like it lists the M80 and treat the M21 like it lists the Tech Wax.

            Thanks Mike,

I appreciate the response. So, I should forgo using #7 and use #9 instead followed by #21? Would there be any benefit going from #83 to #9 then #7 and finishing with #21?

My new process will be NXT wash, Claybar, #83, #9, then #21. Does that sound right?

BTW- your thread with the black corvette with swirls is on of the most informative posts I have ever seen on the entire internet(i am usully a lurker). It was instrumental in me finding/choosing DACP. I love DACP, thanks.

P.S. Yea, I will post some pics when I am done. Keep in mind though, I am not as experienced as yourself.

Not really as products like #9 and #80 are very rich in polishing oils already like the #7 that you wouldn't notice any further improvement. M80 left this kind of finish on the Overhaulin Challenger,

Most people would look at the above finish and think it was waxed, yet that's only our polish. Next we applied two thin coats of NXT Tech Wax and that weekend this car took two first place awards.

Yes. After you run out of #9, try the switch to M80 Speed Glaze, I think you'll like it.

It was a fun car to work on and it's alway nice to help a fellow car enthusiast when they have a problem with their car's finish and no idea how to fix it.

Here's a thread that explains how to work with photos in this discussion forum including tutorials with pictures and links to free software to help you.

How to put pictures into your posts

Once you learn one time how to crop your photos to show the meat of the picture, (not blue sky, green grass, or asphalt), then resize them to either 600 pixels or 700 pixels wide so that everyone can see the entire picture on their monitor, and also how to upload them into your gallery and then link or insert them into your message, then it's easy to do for the rest of your life. It's really not that hard....

                Thanks Mike.

One final question. Can you use #83 too often? How is once every 3 months?

Off to work on my car.

Not really, there is a very good discussion on how much paint is removed with this product by Joe of Superior Shine, as soon as I find it I'll post it.

The more important point however is that you shouldn't have to be using M83 that often? Unless you're purposefully putting scratches into the finish. Instead, try to use products and procedures that limit the amount of scratches you're putting into the paint such as using a Grit Guard when washing.

I better option is to re-polish with the M80 Speed Glaze as this will remove light scratches, which is all that you should have, and produces a high shine finish perfect for applying wax to.

Wow! I was surprised to hear that Meguiar's products were used on that car. What I mean is I thought the other "M" company's products were used on Foose stuff? The color and shine are amazing.
