  • Scratches still there??

Keep in mind Im still learning how to detail. =)

I just polished my sisters 2000 black prelude.

I used the meguiars PC with #82 Swirl free Polish on setting 4-5. This took away some of the scratches only. So I decided to use #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish on setting 5.

Both these were used with W-8006 foam pad.

Still the scratches remain. You can hardly see them because the paint is black but if it were in the sunlight you could see them still. Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?

    Thanks.

I am sure others will chime in, but could be lack of pressure, and/ornot working it long enough. Or if they were severe to start with, may be too deep to completly come out.

Are all the swirls gone, but some deeper scratches left? Or swirls there still?

The best thing is to try at least 2 or 3 passes with the #83. One reason the PC is so safe is that it is not as fast as a rotary. Mike has said to use scratchX working it in across the scratch, not along it. Perhaps you could try the PC in a simmilar motion with another pass or two.

Depending on how severe the scratches are, they may be to much for good Ol 83. I ran into a similar problem on my old truck, and after 83 i used SMR 2.0 (#9). Then a coat of Gold Class Wax (Before NXTR came out) and then a lap of Deep Crystal 3 Carnauba wax over that. MAN it looked so good that I didn't een care about the few little scratches i had left.

But the SMR 2.0 seemed to take the edges off the scratches and then the wax helped deepen the colors so it was less noticeable.

      Hope this Helps a little.

        Two things,

        1. Did you read through and study this,

Using the G-100 to remove swirls with the Professional Line

        2. Some scratches are too deep to remove safely.
