Absolutely get one. I wouldn't think of washing a car without it. I may purchase a second one soon so I can have one in both buckets to take even more precautions against instilling swirl marks in the paint.

Never having used one or even seen one (I use a two bucket wash method), I assume the guard is meant to keep your wash tool (sponge, whatever) from settling to the bottom of the bucket where the "grit" is sitting ?....if you never reach the bottom of your bucket with your mitt or sponge, you theoretically wouldn't need one

the E-Commerce site has no pictures of it BTW....

            Hey,

I use a Grit Guard in both the Soap and the Rinse buckets. Though I have always been careful about not accidently touching the bottom of the bucket and contaminating my mitt, it could happen. So in my eyes, the Grit Guard is cheap insurance!!

I don't have one either, yet.

But from what I gather, one of the advantages of using a grit guard is that you can agitate, or wipe a wash mitt against it to ensure that any grit particles will detach from the mitt.

Here are two Grit Guards, one in the wash bucket and one in the rinse water bucket before water and car wash soap are added to wash a Corvette using the 2-Bucket Method of washing a car.
