Please tell me about the best product to use on my new black Dodge. I have seen many black cars suffer with tiny scratches. My car will be inside 99% of the time. I have never used a commercial car wash & I would be classified as car crazy. I only use Meguiars products...Which is right for me???

Welcome to Meguiar's Online!
The link below and the one that Abel2325 included in his reply will start you off in the right direction
Suggested products for taking care of a new car!
Note that modern clear coats tend to be much harder than traditional lacquers and enamel paints but at the same time they still scratch very easily, for this reason, you always want to be very conscience of how you touch your car's finish and with what you touch your cars finish with.
Remember, paint is a delicate, thin coating, which is easily dulled and easily scratched. Once it has been dulled down, or inflicted with scratches, it takes the right products the right application process and the proper techniques to remove the defects and restore a clear, glossy defect-free finish. Choose carefully whose advise you listen to when it comes to taking care of your car's finish.
If you don't already own a dual action polisher, and if you always want your Viper's finish to look like a pool of black oil, then this would be something you should consider investing in.

Wash the car with fine 100 % cotton soft cloth and a car shampoo with a wax in it.
Then dry and use the old formula meguires spraywax.
Then use a cold water rinse on the car, then wipe dry and polish.
Never use towels like bath or beach towels: they will scratch..
100 % cotton t shirts are the best.
Avoid any cleaner waxes, espesially Zymol that has abrasives.
Ya don't need them.
Use WD 40 to remove any road tar.
I'll post pix of all my black swirless cars and truck when I return from vacation in Parker next week.

NXT Tech Wax, #26, #20, #21 and Gold Class Wax will all look terrific on your car and last a very long time (not to mention the recently retired, but still out there if you hunt, #16). If you were to try any one of them it would work great. If you were to try all of them you'd probably find that you personally prefer one or two.
Everybody has their own favorites, her are some of mine:
Gold Class Shampoo. Works great, readily available everywhere, reasonable price,
I don't like constantly putting on and taking off mitts. I prefer something like the Ultra Plush Chenille Wash Pad or Versa-Angle Wide Body Brush.
For drying, the Water Magnet Drying Towel is tops.
I couldn't live without clay. If you haven't tried it you're in for a treat (or a shock when you see what comes off of supposedly clean paint).
Another thing I couldn't live without; a Quick Detailer. Right now I have all of Meguiar's QDs and I like them all. A bottle of Quik Detailer comes with the clay but you'll want more.
Unless your car is kept under a glass bubble in a museum stuff will happen. I always keep a tube of ScratchX
close at hand.
Polishes, way too personal to get into right now.
Wax, probably best to start with NXT Generation Tech Wax and go from there (actually, once you try it you probably won't want to try anything else).
You'll need a few High-Tech Applicator Pads.
Towels, it's not possible to have too many microfiber towels. Start with a minimum of five (preferably more) Supreme Shine Microfiber towels. From there you can decide for yourself how many more (dozens?) you'll need.
Well, that's a start. Enjoy.
PC.

Hey dcraver,
I agree with "the other PC", everyone has a favorite combo! Hopefully you have a G-100 Dual Action Polisher or will be getting one soon!
When it comes to black, after the prep work is completed (clayed, swirl removal, etc..) my favorite Last Step Products for black are either NXT Tech Wax or #21 Synthetic Sealant topped with #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax. This combo gives you a deep, rich look and high gloss to the paint! Always use either high quality microfiber towels or 100% cotton terry towels for product removal.

Meguiar's always teaches to use premium quality microfiber polishing cloths, or clean, soft 100% cotton terry cloth towels.
A clean, soft 100% cotton terry cloth towel is gentle to the finish and the nap, (the little cotton loops), offer both cushion to spread out the pressure from you hand and a place for wax and polish to bury into as wall as any dirt or abrasive particulate that may happen to be on the finish.
A t-shirt or any material with a flat sheen as TrailerParkCasanova recommends has a limited surface area for holding excess residue you're trying to remove and if by chance any dirt or abrasive particle were to land on your finish while you're using a flat sheen cloth like a t-shirt, then it has no where to bury into and will be ground against and into the finish instilling scratches.
At Meguiar's as a company and on the Meguiar's Online Discussion Forum, we never recommend flat sheen cloths like t-shirts for working on any automotive finish. And we certainly don't endorse this when posted by a member such as TrailerParkCasanova

You have two posts on our forum since joining and both of them are a tad bit on the abrasive side, (no pun intended), for just starting out. Meguiar's Online is a forum made up of friendly and helpful people that are here primarily for two reasons,
- * Learn more about detailing
* Help others learn more about detailing
The only other reason people join this forum would be to,- * Cause strife because they have nothing better to do with their time
