  • Trying to understand

I am trying to understand the product line differnce between the Detailer/Mirror Glaze and Consumer such as NXT.

Which products are better...Is the Detailer line Dressing better than the NXT line Tech Pro? (as an example). Or is it just a case by case. Then In that case I need to go every product in every line.

I have absolutly no cleaning detailing products in my garge and I want to go purchase some but I find that the products avaiable are somewhat over whelming.

I dont mind the money nor the hard work involved in the full detail. I just want to have the Best products for my money for the job I quess.

    Hi Fervidsea,

I'm not the best with words on this forum, but I'll try to help you just a little.

Meguiar's consumer line is geared mostly for hand application, since most people tend to maintain their car's finish this way.

The Detailer/Mirror Glaze line is made for professional car detailers/body shops, and most of them use some sort of machine (rotary buffer, DA polisher, etc.) to apply the products with.

Both lines of products work very well, but since I have a DA polisher, I tend to favor the pro line more.

The pro line does have the best cleaners and polishes IMO though.

I would say for you to start out with the consumer line, and when you have mastered it, then you can graduate on up to the pro line.

I can't help you here, because I have never used either of these yet.

I agree with RB's post... I started with products from the Deep Crystal System (consumer) at first then moved on to nearly all products from the pro side of Meguiars product line.

What kind of vehicles are you going to be working on... Year/Color... has anyone waxed them before? This might help us narrow down some ideas.

I would suggest that you start out with the NXT dressing/tech protectant. The main reason is that it's only about 20 ounces. The Detailer stuff would be a gallon or more. What if you decide you don't like it, or after using one you refine your opinion of what you like from a dressing? You'll have a ton of product to use up still.

If you have never used a type of product before, I'd say keep the initial investment low because once you use a few things, you'll have a much better idea of what you want from that type of product, and thus a much better idea of which specific product is most likely to be exactly what you want.
