    Hey,

"Tiger skeeters " ??? Those sound rather nasty!!

The problem here is Mosquitos for me. I am one of those people that these little blood suckers just love! There could be 100 people standing side by side watching a swarm of mosquitos fly by, watch them stop, and then chase after me! Must be my cologne as only female mosquitos bite! Darn Axe effect!

As for the cold front, perhaps from the East as out West, we are in the mid 90's ourselves! But the temps should start dropping fast. The other night, we went down to 38*F, but then shot back up tp 90*F in the daytime! Ugh!!!

Back in the mid '90s, we visited my in-laws down east, and they were having problems with mosquitoes that were blown in from Africa by a hurricane.

I thought they were flys at first, and the locals told me otherwise!.......Biggest skeeters I ever saw!

Hehe........My wife is the same way. They leave me and go after her.

      That IS unusual!

The humidity must be low or something.

I guess Mike P. might experience something like that too, since he lives in the desert. Temps can rise and fall dramatically in low humidity.

Those nasty black & white Tiger skeeters are popping up all around here!

They'll tare you up and have you for lunch if you're not wearing some kind of repellent.
They like their meals nice and juicy I suppose!

The Tiger skeeters are the ones that carry disease too, either encephalitis or West Nile Virus.

When I detail I use a big fan to blow them away. Works great! But I am leery of using a fan around water, like when I'm washing the car.

Repellent is very effective, but I worry about getting any on the paint.

I started using Avon's insect repellent. Seems to work pretty good for me, along with eating some pico de gallo.....They don't like that at all.

Unless it's a Mexican skeeter of course.

              Yep.

Africian mosquitoes morph into American skeeters when they cross over into the southern U.S. by way of hurricane.

About washing your car when it is hot out. I usually wash mine close to sunset, and sometimes i get little waterspots after my car has dried. If I wash it again the next day, will the water spots go away from the previous wash? I do wash in sections but this time it didn't work right. The waterspots i have are just from the wash, i do not let water spots from rain dry into my car almost ever, so i don't think this is the same type of water spots. Need advice, thanks.

Try wiping the car down with a quick detailer after a wash. It can be hard to dry a car completely before any water evaporates. Plus, some will drip out of the body and leave spots.

Currently I use the Mr. Clean Auto wash with the spot free rinse. But today, i did it after i had my car sit in my garage after it had rained while i was out shopping. So after the weather cleared i washed it and I think that the water spots were a result of the rain and then washing it.

But my question is, if i wash it the next day when it's almost dark and i make sure to keep my car wet before i apply the spot free rinse, will the old water spots disappear? And also, the temporary spots won't hurt my paint, right?

                    Thanks!

Oh, how true that is! Drip....drip....drip.....drip, etc.

Lately, the humidity has been lower than usual in Indiana. I actually had the car soap dry on my car before I could rinse it off (need to return to practice of immediately rinsing each panel). I reapplied more car wash (not a good idea) and when I rinsed, the water just sat there on the paint! So then I had a nice car wash film left on the paint. The sections I rinsed immediately had the water roll right off. Lesson learned!

Someone told me to wipe a Bounce fabric softener dryer sheet over your skin and that will keep the Skeeters away! Oddly enough it seemed to work pretty well.

Rain normally does not cause nasty water spots, they should rinse right off. It's when car wash rinse water dries and spots that it's time to worry.

It is often pretty hot in Southern California and the humidity is usually quite low.

                          Here is what I do.

I pull a car into the shade out of direct sunlijght and procede to wash the car.

I keep the car wet the entire time to prevent water spots.

When it is time to dry, I use a Chamis and then immediatly go over that with a terry or the water magnet to pickup the minute left overs from the chamis. I always get the roof then the windows done immediatly as the windows spot first.

Finally I re-wet the car everywhere I haven't dried then finish drying the car.

                          Works out pretty good.

If the car is well waxed, it drys much easier.

The rain does leave light spots, but nothing awful looking, I am just one of those car people who looks for the spots and always notices them there. So, after it had rained today my car had dried and the spots occurred, but they were the size of pinheads, so nothing outrageous. So when i washed it, i rushed b/c i had so much to do and I just didn't take my time on it like i normally do, so thats why i think i have some water spots in some areas and not in others.

Rain isn't too bad. It is mostly distilled water If your car is well waxed, rain is not really much of a worry.

However, you need to maintain the wax thorughout the season and work on keeping your widnows clean.

The only problem with rain is if you let it dry on the paint.

Then you have to deal with the leftover chemicals from air pollution.
