  • Quik Detailer

A Member of your UK forum had a link to another detailing company that had how-to videos which i thought i'd take a peek at and see what your competitors do, as i can only download some of the Megs Videos.

there were two things that stood out to me as confusing,

firstly the guy rinsed his car, but before drying he sprayed it with a Quik Detailer. any ideas about this?

second, when he'd clayed he didnt wipe off any of the residue, instead he applied his polish over the top of the QD, again any ideas about this?

i think the site was adamspolishes.com

is there any benifit to this or as i may suspect it might be doing more harm than good?

he also applied his version of ScratchX and a polish together?

Well, I've heard that people sometimes spray a little QD on a microfiber during the drying process after a wash to help eliminate water spotting. When you say he rised the car, was it an unwashed car that just got hosed off, or was it a rinse after a wash? If he just hosed the car without properly washing it, there is a huge risk that there are dirt particles still on the paintwork. By adding QD on top of that, he could instill scratches with the trapped dirt in the towel.

As for the clay residue, it needs to be removed before the nest step.

Scratch X with the polish? I'm a bit confused as to exactly what he was doing. Maybe I am reading it wrong

I always have a towel handy to remove the QD after claying a spot, but I go straight to a cleaner/polish after finishing the claying/wipedown process to the whole car.

Sounds like he's mixing products here.

I wouldn't recommend doing that with a Meguiars product myself.
