    Hello,
I hope this gets posted. Newbie to the forum. I have learned so much from this forum, and I like to think all of the members that give so much But I do have a question, the trim around the windows always seems to leave black on my rags:

    1. Is this normal?

    2. If its not normal does it mean my trim is deteriorating?

    3. What can I do to keep the black on the trim?

My truck is a new 2005 Colorado.

    Thanks

    Hello Colorado,
Since is your first post... Welcome to MOL!
    Based on your questions,

1- Black residue from the windows trims in your rags is pretty much normal IMO.

2-Rubber will deteriorate because of the ozone. Same as tires. So basically you are pulling off dead rubber even with a new car. By the time it left the factory, it is already exposed to the sun, ozone and other contaminants.

3- You can use #39 trim cleaner and dress it up with #40. If not available you can use pretty much any Meguiar's exterior trim detailer. I personally use an all purpose cleaner to clean all the dead rubber then use Gold Class Trim detailer. So far is my favorite trim detailer that last a long time.
    Cheers!

      Hi colorado,

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online

romulus pretty much covered all the basics, black coming off is normal. Here's a product that's pretty good at maintaining these areas. It can sometimes be hard to find retail so you may have to order it direct from Meguiar's Customer Care.

      Gold Class Trim Detailer
