  • Getting ready to Wash>Clay>Clean>Polish>WAX>SD

Have another thoght on this before undertaking. I have been looking throght the forums but can't seem to find what I am looking for.

Where I work I have no readily available water supply. I plan on doing 1-2 panels a night at work but the problem is I don't have a good water source. I can go retreive buckets of water but don't have acess to an available hose next to my work area.

This being the case, I was wondering if the following plan would suffie well enough considering my lack of water:

    Step
    1. WASH (Will do each night before leaving for work. Only about an eight minute drive).
    2. Once at work I can QD the project panel for the night.
    3. Clay using QD per instructions
    4. Clean using DC Paint Cleaner
    5. QD again
    6. Polish using DC Polish
    7. QD again
    8. Apply 2 coats NXT TECH (paste)
    9. Touch it up with NXT Speed Detailer.

If you folks could offer any comment on the above I would certainly appreciate it. I suspect I could probably leave out 1 of the QDs but am unsure and was hoping for some feedback from you guys.

I am anxious to get started on this as over the weekend I finished putting on the first 2 coats of GOLD to protect it while taking on this next step.

Thanks a heap for any comment.

Here is how I would change it:

    1. WASH (Will do each night before leaving for work. Only about an eight minute drive).
    2. If I understand it right, since you are driving after a wash I would QD it before clay.
    3. Clay using QD per instructions
    4. Wash, you could get away with QDing instead of wash if you have no water.
    5. Clean using DC Paint Cleaner
    6. Polish using DC Polish
    7. Apply 2 coats NXT TECH (paste)

I would not QD after NXT is applied and been removed. After you remove your second coat of wax I would wait 24 hours before a detail spary is used. Just my .02!

You say you are doing 1-2 panel a night, I would do all the steps on each panel in one shot... Say do the hood and front fenders steps 1-7 on day one, day 2 do the doors and roof steps 1-7.... and so on.

Once you have done all the prep for a wax you should finish all the steps in that one area since you are going to be driving it.

I must not have explained it very well. I plan to do one to 2 panels a night but all steps on each panel.

Just got finished going to all local retailers. Not a MG Clay kit to be found. I was hoping on starting tonight.

        Well have to call MG.

So I take it I can skip my original Step #7 of QDing it between cleaning and polishing? Thats good. I was thinking I was going to need to start buying QD by the 55 Gal drum. Went through a whole bottle last week. Just bought a couple more to get me through this phase of the plan then will be switching over to NX Speed Detail.

I wonder if MG will Overnight the clay kit. I guess a phone call will answer that.

Thanks a heap for the feedback.

there is no need to QD between Cleaner and polish step OR between polish and Wax step.

Ok, cool beans and understand all.

Just spent the evening gearing up my trunk for the upcoming project with all sorts of goodies.

having MG overnight the CLAY System as well as the Grit Guard. Will likely buy some more stuff from them in the future but I've sunk quite a bit into what I have picked up already. I have about everything I need other than a wife to do all the work for me.

I think later I'll pick up the Power Buffer but I don't want to practice on my brand new vehicle. Later I might try to find one of my buddies with an uncared for beater and get some practice in on that.

Thanks for the tips thus far. You saved me a couple of steps there.

            Have a good one.
