I use dawn, just make sure you get it ALL rinsed out. they're cheap enough to buy more if they get to bad.

After a few washings I relegate my old pads to things like putting on tire dressing, vinyl treatment, rubber cleaners and protectant. They work well for applying fender-well dressing too. I buy lots at a time so I always have fresh pads around.

I toss them in the washing machine with my microfibers and some woolite cleans them well.

I wash them in the washing machine as well, however I use Murphy's Oil Soap with HOT water. This combination really gets the chemicals out of all your applicators, MF towels, terry cloths, etc.
I first used this combination in a bucket and hand washed my towels....the water turned a brilliant color of Dark Grey!It was fantastic to see the chemicals ooze out of the towels.
I had tried using a bucket, Hot water and Dawn and the results weren't even half of what the MOS results. I just followed the directions on the label of MOS for the right ratio.

Be sure to add a little white vinegar to the rinse water, as it helps to remove detergent leftovers....We add it to the final rinse when washing our clothes.
