  • tire problems

I posted awhile back about problems after using the Endurance high gloss gel. I don't know for sure if this caused the problem, but I didn't notice it before. After cleaning the tire (though maybe not thoroughly enough) I applied the high gloss gel on all four tires, then went back and added a little more around the outer half of the tire, since the white raised letters were hard to work around. I don't remember for sure, but I think it was later that day or the next day after it had set for a bit, I noticed this pattern:

This picture was after scrubbing it three times with Extra until I stopped seeing dirt come off, then I cleaned it with the NXT tire cleaner. After applying the Insane shine tire spray, it's harder to see, but still fairly noticable.

any thoughts? Is this fixable? The tires only have 15,xxx miles.

    Thanks!

i had this problem on an old set of tires i had, and also on many vehicles i detail. Its just the different type of rubber that is used in the manufacturing process.

Let me guess you have goodyears?

yep, Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. Darn, so nothing I can do about other than buy something else in 30-40K miles?

I never had a problem with that stuff.

The tires on my truck have the same thing. That little "defect," if you will, is from how the sidewall on the tire was constructed.

I had trouble with Endurance on my Goodyear F1 tires that came stock on my '01 TA. The Meguair's tech rep told me that other Gooyear users had trouble. Use the Hot Shine or Insane Shine until you get a different brand/model of tire.

This may sound extreme, but you could call Goodyear's 800 number and ask them to replace the tires.

I did this with a set of Kellys not too long ago (The tires had too much vibration) and they replaced all 4 of them, and Kelly is owned by Goodyear.

I know this sounds extreme, but you never know what a phone call will do until you try it.......I can't count the times that companys have bent over backwards just to help me.

I have had nothing but bad luck with goodyear tires over the years. When you burn that set, look into Michelin or BF Goodrich. Had nothing but good experience with both their SUV and UHP tires.
