  • Aluminum wheel finish question.

I've got American Racing Baja (non-clearcoated) wheels on my Rubicon and they look like ****. I've polished them before and they come out looking pretty good.

Problem is now that I've waited so long to polish them again they have become pitted, and no amount of elbow grease and wheel polish will clean them up.

I even tried the new Mothers Buff Ball. (similar to the Flitz thing on TV)Same result.

Any ideas? Is there a place where they can refinish the wheels? Or perhaps a more aggressive polish. (I've been using Mothers and Meguiars)

    Thanks

    Doug

which types of polish did you use on the wheels? and do you have access to a digital camera? that will help us tell you exactly what you need. and what do you mean by pits? small pencil dots of brake dust? if so, then a good wheel cleaner for those wheels and a gentle brush should work well. if that still doesn't remove it, then try NXT all metal polish. here is a picture of how mine was. only one side was polished with nxt all metal polish while the other side was left alone. This is what happens to your wheel if you use the wrong product on it

what polish were you using with the powerball? I've used the powermetal in conjunction with the powerball and it did a decent job. NXT metal polysh appears to have a good deal of cleaning ability so that my be another option.
