  • List of products by aggressiveness?

New to the forums but I've been poking around for about a month and finally decided to post. I have detailed cars for a long time but mostly by hand and never for money!!

I'm really excited to try out the Megs Pro line!! I've used the DC system for about 10 years and now see there is more to do what I want. Now for the question:

Is there a list that puts the polishes and cleaners in order by least to most aggressive?

Or is this something that is up to your own experience and opinion?

I did a search and came up empty handed.

It would be nice to know where to go when a product is not abrasive enough and what would be too much.

I can't believe it hasn't been done yet.

    Thanks!

I didn't really notice the bar as I have not used the pro line YET!

If that works out there are only a few without the bar such as M05, M07, M81 and where does ScratchX,DC#1, and DC#2 fit in?

And what about the marine products? I have never done a boat but I saw a post recently where a marine cleaner was used on a car.

And also do you include the sealants and cleaner/wax?
I think not as they appear to be non-abrasive, but I could be wrong.

I'm also sure that type of buffer and type of pad will add to the product used but there is already a list for that!!

I hate to open a bag of worms but I think this would help out in product selection in conjunction with old posts that recommend a certain product for a certain job.

      Thanks for the welcome!

(Mike Pennington... how many times have we discussed this? )

It hasn't been done because it cannot be done. This question comes up about once a month. The problem is we're talking about comparing apples to oranges and when you do this it never works.

Some products remove defects best when applied by hand while others remove defects best when applied by machine.

I can put together a list of the most aggressive to the least aggressive products in categories of how they are applied, i.e.

        Rotary buffer
        Dual Action Polisher
        Hand

I'll skip the traditional Orbital Buffer, the Cyclo Polisher and the BO6040 as they are niche tools.

That was actually my next question!

Had to feed myself and my daughter so I figured it could wait.

That list would be excellent when you have time!!

After reading around for the past month I can see you are VERY busy so I won't push for the list YET!!!

I've been looking at the G100 and think that it is a must have tool! I have an old VS rotary but would like to get something that is VS in the switch as well as a dial setting. Would also like to catch the sale on the G100 but may have to order it sooner!

Til then I'll stick to rotary for tough spots and my hands for the rest.
