  • California Duster

My paint is only 2 yrs old, Mequiars maintained as per Rx from day one - I have been using the California Duster for a week or so and it works great! Question is, is it ok on the paint and does Meguiars make something similar?

X-1180 Body Duster is very similar, I think it is actually better than the original CCD. I have 2 CCD's and have yet to see any negative effects from frequent use. As long as you don't use it on really dusty finishes, you should be fine.

I dont know about everyone else, but on a black car, if it set for any length of time (in the garage) there is alot of dust that accumulates, its just not as noticible on other lighter colors, if my car sets for 3 or four days there is a considerable amount of dust, would you dust it or wash it, if you wash it, that would mean if I didnt drive it but once a week, I would be washing it alot with out using it very much, I need a sealed room to keep it in when not driving it

Why not run some duct working in the garage and use a hepa filter from TRANE to keep dust down?

I'm surprised. I've never had any problem with the duster--including now on my '06 black Corvette. You have to use it lightly, not rub, never on a car with anything but dust--if you can't blow it off, it's not dust. Anything that won't blow off could possibly scratch it, so use quick detailer for that type of dirt. If a lot of it, wash it. Shake the duster hard to get the dust out, even wash it once in a while.

I think the California Duster is great if used correctly. You need to keep a good coat of Meguiars Gold Class wax (I use the liquid) on the paint. I use the duster sometimes daily - if any moisture gets on the paint DO NOT use the duster. If sufficiently "Meguiared" and dust free, you'll be surprised how the rain does not affect the paint, does not spot and practically falls off the car when the rain stops.!!
