  • Hello from bay area

I've been checking this place out for a little while and I am sure you can help me. I had a wheel wieght hit me on the roof and took some paint with it, down to metal. Well I had to get rid of the rust that was forming, got that done and while trying to feather it out ended up with some pretty good scratches, used 2000 grit wet. I used ScratchX and NXT wax, it's pretty well hidden unless you're looking straight down. Just wondering if there is a way I can fix it to look a little better.

By the way, you can't see it from the ground, I'm just anal. So far you people have given some great sounding advice. Thanks in advance, Colvin

    Hi Colvin,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Who's sand paper did you use? The reason I ask is that Meguiar's Finishing papers leave uniform sanding marks that are typically less deep and tend to buff out easier.

One suggestion would be to re-sand the area with our #3000 grit finishing papers, this will remove the depth of the #2000 grit papers and then using some passion, rub these sanding marks out using ScratchX and a microfiber applicator pad.

We've demonstrated removing sanding marks by hand out our Saturday Detailing Classes, it sometimes surprises people in that it's not as simple as it sounds and does take some focused energy on the part of the person working the ScratchX.

Just some paper I have at work for honing shafts and removing paint for fit. So I should go to 3000g?
