  • How do YOU use your QD?

I'm intrested in hearing how other peeps use their QD of choice or maybe what they have found to be the most effective method.

I've always just sprayed it directly onto a panel and wiped it off with a clean towel until i've done the whole car. And then come back with a second clean around towel for a final wipe.

    What's your method?

Moisten a supreme shine MF towel with Speed Detailer (or Quik Detailer), spray a light mist directly on to the panel, spread it around. At this spoint, the product has already begun to evaporate. So before it completely dries, I quickly wipe it up with a second, dry MF towel.

If you allow the QD or SD to dry directly on the panel, it will leave marks similar to what you would see if you let water air dry on your vehicle.

If the QD does dry up before I get to it, I take my second (dry) MF and I just wipe a SLIGHTLY damp portion of it over the panel and the luster will return. I say slightly damp because if the panel has already dried and you are using a totally dry towel, there will be no lubricity. When I use the dry towel on a wet panel...well, you can figure that one out.

Spray on a small section at the time in the shade. Then wipe with a clean 100% deep pile cotton terry towel. The buff lightly with clean towel. It cleans and shines with no haze. I love QD for removing contaminants (ie: bug splatter). Good stuff.

I only QD when im polishing or after washes, where i live the dust is too coarse.

But, i wipe down with one towel, after washing, and while the paint is still slightly damp, i QD and follow with a clean, dry towel to finish it up.

With QD's i find i was using wayyyyyy to much a few months ago when i started using them. About a half a trigger pull for any i have used is all that is really needed for each section.
