  • Chrome paint polish?

Is it possible to polish chrome painted plastic? It's a motorcycle part, suzuki intruder. I'm guessing it's single stage...?

I use Plastx on chrome painted plastic trim such as grilles. It does a nice job of removing oxidation and light swirls.

      Hi SchwarzenSchafe,

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Is this a stock component? Sounds like chrome plastic?

If it's paint, treat it like paint, if it's plastic, as in chrome appearing plastic, then treat it like plastic. A good rule of thumb is to always treat the surface material or the coating.

There is a new paint system on the market that looks like Chrome, but I've personally never worked on it.

If it's plastic and like new, then you can polish it with a plastic polish like our M10 Plastic Polish.

      Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish

If it's paint, then you can maintain it using a product like NXT Tech Wax.

I'm looking at several stock parts on the bike that look like they have oxidation and minor scratches/swirls. They're a chrome coating (paint) over plastic. I'm not aware of any plastic that looks anything like chrome without a coating...? Is there really such a thing? I'm doubting it, so I don't think treating it like plastic is the way to go.

What kind of polish should I try? I'll have to apply by hand because most of the parts are small.

Also, what kind of meg's products are there for polishing machined aluminium? I have to fill (weld) serious gouges, sand and then polish.

        Thanks.
