Micro chips on black

I think it is unavoidable, but over time bugs hitting my hood is causing little pin sized chips in my hood.

From buffing and waxing i have little wite dots on my hood, along with some bigger ones i planned on touching up.

Is there any way to strip everything off my hood, even in these little pores?

I was thinking a 75/25 alcohol mix? Or maybe a diluted wheel cleaner?

My wifes says she can barely see them, but that means that she can see them right lol.

Also, would an autobody guy be able to wetsand the hood, and get down past these little pores?

Its driving me crazy to the point i might get the hood repainted, but then the same thing will happen all over again.

I love black, but i may never buy another pickup that is black.

I've got the same problem on my Black Celica. I dont think short of a re-spray there is much that can be done. Probably well beyond being helping with Scratch X etc.

Something you could try get a black permenant marker pen and touch in the chips. Much better results than touch-up paint. You will need to re-do it every month or so though.

Ya, 92 is definately warm

I get up around 6:30 on a weekend just to wash my truck, or else i get mad waterspots

Now we just had a mother load of rain

Anyways, i try not to obsess about stuff, but white dots on my hood are driving me nuts. All the polish and wax is filing in the pores, or whatever they are, im hoping something will dissolve them, then i can put on something that wont dry white....if there is such a thing....

Hey Jeff,

Sorry to say, but the rock chips can be a real pain! All you can do is detail the hood anyway. After waiting a few days, I would use a pressure washer on the hood, at a safe distance! The pressure should remove any dried excess wax in the rock chips without hurting the wax/sealant on the paint.

Give that a try!
