I have a 1965 Pontiac Tempest. The paint job is not original, about 15 years old I'd say. Anyway, I have had it covered with a car cover for several months.
Over the weekend we laid a plastic tablecloth with a cloth lining underneath on top of the hood, on top of the car cover, which was laid on the car upside-down, if that makes any difference. We put the tablecloth on there only for a few hours to get it washed off in the rain.
Anyway, the table cloth did not come in direct contact with the paint job. It was laid on top of the car cover. Now, there is a very obvious fading of the paint on the hood of the car where the tablecloth was!
Any ideas on how this could happen? Or how to fix it?
I have tried rubbing compound and polish, neither of which has worked. I even used a buffer. It didn't seem to do much good, maybe a little. Not sure if the paint is faded or stained somehow.
Could someone please help? E-mail me at troutmasterdave@sbcglobal.net
