  • How do I get odor out of leather seats?

My dad left the sun roof of his MB C320 Classic open this weekend during a rain storm. After two days of airing it out in the sun the interior still smells like an old sponge. I cleaned the carpets with a Bissel Little Green Machine which helped and sprayed some Meguiars Odor Eliminator in it as well. That only worked temporarily. I think the root of the problem is in the seats. They seem to have got the worst of it. Any ideas how to remedy this?

Well, you could always try cleaning/conditioning the seats, but if the smell is coming from the foam padding underneath the leather, there wont be a whole lot to do except wait it out. Perhaps trying to apply the odor eliminator a little more under/up into the seats could help, if you can squeeze it in there.

Sounds like a tough problem as in order to remove the odor, you have to be able to get to the odor and if it's coming from the foam under the leather, this is going to be a problem.

If it is really bad and you want to get rid of it... take a really, really small needle/syringe and take the Meg's odor eliminator and inject it in 2-3 different places from underneath the seat...

I know this sounds bad because you're essentially making a tiny hole in your seats, but you won't even be able to notice, especially if you do it from the bottom and still manage to get the foam underneath.

Once that's done, spray the top leather with the same, and see if you can manage to get some in between the seams.

After that condition your seats and don't drive or sit in the car for about 2-3 hours... After a couple of hours or rest, A/C the car without anyone in it for 30 minutes and you should be good.

I did the exact same, except the smell I was trying to rid was from someone's bad rear hygiene.
