      Sorry for the slow replies... I try to take Sunday off to spend time with family and stay off the computer for a while, thus the reason I post this on the Frontpage every Sunday as a subtle notice...

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Sunday - June 12th, 2005
      Sunday, a day to rest and relax and recharge your batteries from the week gone by while revitalizing your spirit for the forthcoming week. We encourage you to spend some quality time with family and friends.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      It's not healthy to work seven days a week for anyone although I know sometimes in life we find ourselves in this situation.

      As far as Nu-Finish goes, it's a cleaner/wax plain and simple. I used it as a youngster before I discovered Meguiar's. I would put ColorX, Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax, (A12 in the Maroon bottle), NXT, or even M20 up against it any day of the week.

      A good side by side demonstration would be on black paint, two thin coats of each after washing and claying.

      If your brother-in-law likes it and is getting good results with it, then like I always post...

      "Find something you like and use it often"

      But maybe sometime you can show him a Meguiar's product or two or even share this forum with him. Have a nice evening!

            Opinions on NuFinish....

            It's been around a long time and there are newer products that work better and cost less.

            Mike, you say "even M20...." as if that was a "lowly" product. I don't think that was your intent, was it? I'd say M20 was better than NuFinish the day it was released, and that it's as good as the Cleaner Wax or ColorX.

              Hi Tom,

              M20 Polymer Sealant is a great product, my reference to it was in reference to a product outside our Consumer Line of products as M20 is in our Professional Line. In hindsight it doesn't read the way I intended it to. My mistake as you're correct, M20 Polymer Sealant is a superior product with a long history of proven high performance.

                If I can get the lighting right, the white Sube just glows from a double coat of #20. I haven't been able to capture it with the camera, though.

                  Consumer Reports used to rate Nu-Finish quite high.....Course, not that I follow their car wax recommendations lol.

                  One time they tested the Deep Crystal 1,2,3 system, and pretty much called it rediculous.....They used the statment: "used by persnickety people".

                  I'll be sure to write them the next time they make such a statement.

                    NuFinish is great for older neglected cars, just imagine its #83 mixed with a polymer, but I wouldn't touch it on new cars finishes !

                      Actually, if all you have is Nu-Finish, then something is better than nothing, but given an option, for neglected paint, I being the Meguiar's Purist that I am, I would opt for...

                      COLORx® in the Consumer Line

                      Or M06 Cleaner/Wax in our Professional Line

                      M06 Cleaner/Wax

                      When I was younger, pre-Meguiar's I used this product as well as Rain Dance, mostly because I just didn't know about anything else. These were the products I saw advertised on T.V. and available at my local auto parts stores. When I used them, the paint usually looked better. Since I had no experince to compare my results to, I figured the results I was getting were as good as a person could get.

                      Not true.

                      Those products are true consumer type products. Meguia'rs is a polish companyy, we manufacture products that are the best in their catagory, our products sell because the product in the bottle exceeds people's expectations. Meguiar's started as a family business creating furniture cleaner and polish, as cars were introduced in the early 1900's, Meguiar's began creating products for the finishes used to coat and protect early cars, which by the way were the same coatings used to coat and protect furniture, i.e. shellac, varnish and lacquer. In Meguiar's early days till 1950, the majority of Meguiar's focus was creating cleaners and polishes for use by professionals in the refinishing industry and for use on the assembly line at all major car manufactures. We didn't make our first wax until 1951, and didn't offer our first Consumer product until 1973.

                      Meguiar's started out in a garage and is now in over 92 contries world wide and has the highest brand loyalty of any product on the market.

                      Products like Nu-Finish, they'll always be around, they'll always have their market. But when it comes using products that will actually showcase a person's work, there is no other name people turn to...

                        Sorry to revive this thread from ages ago lol even before i was a member

                        but i saw this nu finnish stuff the other day at my local parts store and i read the writing on the can and it said that it contains no wax but it also said that it will make water beed for a whole year... i was kind of skeptical about this stuff because if it contains no wax and is a polish like they say how can it keep water beeding for a year? i came home after picking up gold class! and i looked it up and their website is even more shaddy
                        why would a company advertise that their the largest advertiser of car polish?

                        has any one tryied this product recently?

                          I cant say I have tried it... I actualy recently made sure to throw out my Dads' old bottle.

                          And the reason people can advertise that way is in the meanings of words. I would guess "No Wax" means no carnuba wax, but then it probably has polymers in it.

                          And you have to love how people will reach for anything to be number one in. I am the number one advertiser of car polishes as well.. in my area.. in my house. Just have to be specific enough.

                            Been a long time ago since I tried it. I can't even remember what the results were.
