Re: Remove light scratches black paint VIDEO - suggestions?
Hi froggy,
I watched your video & it looks like the products you chose of ours, Scratch X 2.0 & NXT Tech Wax 2.0, did the job, like you mentioned. Good Work. What advice are you looking for now?Nick Winn

Re: Remove light scratches black paint VIDEO - suggestions?
I have a couple suggestions, like you mentioned, your pad is getting old. If you upgraded to some newer, more low profile foam "discs", like our Soft Buff D/A Foam Discs, it will dramatically improve the feel of your Porter Cable, and also improve your cutting/polishing ability. Low profile foam discs have less mass, therefore you get more efficient pad rotation. Our Ultimate Compound is more commonly used on a D/A Machine, and offers a little more cut & ease of use on a machine, than the product you used, Scratch X 2.0.
One intermediate step you did not take, is the use of a polish, especially on black, you can get a better finish with a product like our Ultimate Polish, used prior to applying a coat of wax.
The scratches you were working are actually not what we would call light. Waxes like NXT only have a certain amount of ability to fill, and it is very minimal.Nick Winn

Re: Remove light scratches black paint VIDEO - suggestions?
Thanks Nick.
Is Ultimate compound like 3000 + grit? The red arrow points to extra heavy cut, so I'm confused. Sorry. I think you are onto something with my pad.
So ultimate compound, then ultimate polish, then wax.
Yes?

Froggy,
The Ult trio is available just about everywhere. As to the pads, you might hit up a local auto paint supply store. There is a possibility they could have them or order them for ya. But, in a nut shell, pads are mostly a 'mail order' item.

I like to have about 1/2 inch over size but maybe that is not ideal?
