  • Glass Cleaner/Tinted Windows

I recently had my glass tinted on our vehicles. The tint guy said not to use anything with ammonia.

    Does this sound right?

If so, what does everyone use on tinted glass.

Everytime I've had my windows tinted they've told me that. Almost any automotive glass cleaner won't have ammonia - but just be sure and read the label to make sure it's safe on tinted windows. Of course, Meguiars makes a glass cleaner as well

Does any body know what ammonia actually does to the tint ? Always know they tell you not use it but why.

takes the tint off. that is what is used to remove old tint before putting in new one. the process is taping off the window with like a bag. do no allow it to breath in any air and put in some ammonia. 30 minutes later, your tint less!

Do you put the ammonia on the window before tapping it off? How would you tape off the back window ?

( this is what ive read on the internet , i haven't done it myself or seen someone do it, so i may be off )

you place the bag so that it covers the entire window but not allowing it to get on the paint. tape off all the edges except the top. put in ammonia then tape it shut. wait 30 minutes. no more tint. its the same method for all windows. i don't think its a beginners project, but be welcome to do it on junk cars.

I work for used car dealership we have to remove tint all the time. They peal tint off then scrap off glue by spraying a foaming glass cleaner then using a razor blade to scrap the glue off.
I knew there was a better way to do so. Ill try your method and get back to you lnkprksoldier . thks
