  • water spots

I left my car outside in the rain and the next day the sun was beating down on it. My car is new.

As a consequence I have a ton of these ugly water spots. It looked like hard water had dried on my paint.

I had NXT on the car before the rain so I didn't think it would be too bad.

I washed the car and the spots are still there, though not very noticeable. However, I want my paint to be just like before.

Is #82 enough of a cut to remove these water spots?

Or should I go up to DACP #83? I'm afraid that #83 may be too much.

Mike, which do you use in your demonstrations at the car clinics?

It seems that many of the posts about the car clinics are gone. They were really good at describing what you did.

    Hi t-bone,

If you have some #82 and PC, then I would try that first.

The "Detail Day's at Meguair's" have been moved into there own forum, here,

    Detail Days at Meguiar's

Try the #82 and see if that works, if not, substitute the #83.

Try to get two coats of Tech Wax on after your done. I wonder what was in the water?

          Thanks Mike.

          Last questions:

I have the Meguiar's DAP and the pads that came with the set that I bought during the Detailing Day.

So I was wondering what pad would be best to use the #82?

What speed settings for #82 and for NXT would be suitable?

          Thanks.

Because your trying to remove some defects, I would use the W-8006 pad because it will give the #82 a lot more bite versus teh W-9006 which is pretty gentle to the finish.

I could still see some outlines of the water spots after using #82.

              This is my new plan:

Some #83 using a W-8006 pad with the DAP at the 5 setting.

              Wipe off with Microfiber cloth.

              #82 using a W-8006 pad at a 5 setting.

              Wipe off with Microfiber cloth.

              NXT using a W-9006 pad at a 4 setting.

              Wipe off with Microfiber cloth.

              Final Detail.

              Does this sound ok Mike?

Do you have any advice when using the #83? I saw some people have problems with haze. How do I know when I need to use more #83 or if I have not used it up yet and should keep going?

              Thanks.
