  • Incomplete Deep Crystal work because of rain...

After I had washed my car last Sunday, I started to do the 3-step Deep Crystal cleaning, polishing, and waxing process. But because it was getting late/dark, I stopped after completing step 1 (applying and wiping off the paint cleaner).

Fast forward to the next evening, it begins to thunderstorm.

So this morning, I looked at my car and it looks fairly clean except for a few waterspots on the roof, hood, trunks, and sides of my car. I wiped those up with a microfiber towel after spraying some water from a spray bottle.

My question is this: Can I continue with step 2 (polishing) and step 3 today since it is no longer raining? Will I have to wash my car and perform step 1 again because it rained, or can I just pick up where I left off?

    Thanks for your advice,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

You can pick back up where you left off, the only thing you want to be careful of is dirt on the surface left behind by the rain. You can either wipe the car down with a quick detailer, or wash the car if needed.

You just don't want to grind dirt into the paint when applying the polish and wax.

    Good luck and have fun!

      Thanks!

      Thanks for the advice, Mike!

I'm going to pick up either the NXT Speed detailer or the Gold Class one...whichever is more affordable.

Then onto the step 2 polish and NXT tech wax!

Personally, I would wash the car. Especially since it appears you have a dark blue paint. Better to be safe than sorry. It wouldn't take much longer than QD'ing it anyway. I would think the rain in Baltimore may be a little on the dirty side, even if you can't really see it on the paint.
