So does this mean we don't have to do that with the Meguiars duster? And it doesn't streak on warm or recently waxed surfaces? Those would be big pluses!

My CCD is probably 6-7 years old and I tried everything to make the thing work; I still hated it.

The Meg's Body Duster is a different story all together. It really works well on freshly waxed and on warm paint. I have not tried it on hot paint, but I would advise against doing anything to hot paint anyway.

I used California Car Duster many times to remove snow on my car this winter while my neighbours used snow scraper to remove snow on their cars.

Should I throw it away, because snow removed chemical on it?

The OXO duster is bigger and wider than the CCD. It has longer more fine threads that seem to pick up the dust better and after 2 months of use I have yet to have streaking with it. That was my biggest hate with the CCD, after using it I had to QD the car or live with a finish covered in swirl like streaks. Also the handle on the OXO duster is longer and heavier making the duster better balanced. The handle is rubber coated (not plastic or wood) and is easily gripped and less worry if it were ever dropped. Also the storage bag is comes with is much better than the CCD duster and actually seals tight.
I have yet to try the meguiars, however I am extremely happy with my OXO duster. Because I use a car cover when I park, I use my duster 4 to five times a day.
Try the OXO duster, you will throw away your CCD after.

I read the little blue tag on the CCD last night since I was concerned about washing it. It indicates that it may be washed by hand using Woolite. When I washed it, I did it by hand in a large sink with TIDE. I did let it soak overnight so the chemicals are probably gone. Like someone mentioned, they're cheap so I'll buy a new one...or wait for the Meg's duster

Another interseting point on the CCD tag was that it said the dirtier it gets, the better it works. WHAT?!?!?! That sounds very gimicky infomercial-like. On the wahing instructions, the wording makes it seem like hte manufactuer is telling you, "Why would you want to wash this thing?"

ktlimq - that's an interesting use for your CCD. I think I may use my current duster for that purpose. I may have ruined it's dusting ability but it's still safer than ice scrapers. As far as damging the dusting capability due to using it for snow removal, if washing mine killed it, I would assume removing snow could harm it as well

That is the weakness of the CCD.

Once the CCD gets really dirty, I usually just replace it. Takes about 1-2 years for it to get nasty.

Excellent idea. It is hard to come up with paint-safe snow removal devices. This would be perfect!

Thanks for the comparison. I may get one of those too! One can never have too many car dusters IMHO!

How long does it take for my Meg's Body Duster to get to me? I just ordered it today via Meg's Online and they are sending it UPS. Damn stores told me they had it in stock, but they only had body brushes! So i had to order online

It likely depends on where you are. It seems to take about 7-10 days to get to me in Northern Ca. ALWAYS well worth the wait

I do have and use the CD on a regular basis. I love it. When Meg's has their's back in stock I will likely pick it up.

Meg's offers alot of products that are very similar to those that others offer. But I love the Customer support I get from Meg's so don't mind throwing my money in their direction when possible.

I was at Autozone today and noticed they had some MF towels that looked very similar to the Ultimate Wipes. I ran out to the truck, being the prepared car nut that I am, and pullled out an Ulitmate Wipe and went in and compared. Identical except for color.

I think the same goes for others product lines as well. Some are very similar to Megs.

For me, It's nice knowing that if I have problem with something I am working with I have great product support. It's also convenient to have the bulk of the items I use come from one vendor so I can develope a better sense of how to work with them if need be.

A Friend of mine had a cd it looks like it works but i gave it some thought and was thinking what happens in six months or so and it really dirty and just the thought of it with the dirt on the duster and gliding the duster across the hood and instilling small scratches in your hardworking well maintained paint finish...thats why i have not purchased one...im so glad this forum is here...so you guys have no problems with any brands as far as scratches and so forth well i probably order Meguiars brand only....those who have Megs brand have you done any clean or maintenance on them.....thanks fellas

I "think" for some brand replacement heads can be bought. Personnaly I love mine. I was leary about it at first and just barely touched the finish with it. Over time I became more confident in it. and pretty much just plop it down and wipe now. I do monitor the surface and look for possible long scratches. None yet. If I think I am getting to the point that I may get those I will either replace the head or try to wash it or get a new one. Either way, I will continue to use it.
