I did a search on repairing rock chips on paint - is Dr Colorchip still the way to go? I just dab, smear, polish, and be done? Does anyone have experience using this product?

Re: Paint chips - Dr Colorchip still the way to go?
I do not have experience but it seems to be the way to go around here. In regards to buffing on treated areas. You would ideally want to perform any paint correction first, and then do the touch up treatments. But yes, you can buff over any touch up paint, they are quite durable, but you still want to be cautious & not get too aggressive.Nick Winn

agp, do you have a rash of chips in an area or just the ordinary chip here and there? I'd lean towards Dr ColorChip if you had the shotgun effect of chips on your front end. If it's just the random chip here and there over the life of the car, your manufactures touch-up bottle would be sufficient. Even a factory matched batch from companies like automotivetouchup.com. Then of course it depends on your color. Is it a basic black or a pearl effect tri-color!?John @ HillCityAutoDetail.com

Lol, you'll hate yourself in a couple years.

Re: Paint chips - Dr Colorchip still the way to go?
Hi
i just went over to the Drcolorchip site and saw a video how they dab, smear and remove the excess paint. My question is, does this really work and make paint chips a thing of the past? I had not heard about this company until i came across this thread.

A lot of folks swear by it. They have been around for a long time.
Disclaimer: I've yet to try it. Just been lucky that my nicks have been super tiny, hence I use 'touch-up paint' from the dealer.

I watched more then 10 different videos on Youtube. I kinda found what i was looking for. Cant be buffed on. So polish your car and all that. Then you can use Drcolorchip (and after that wax). But it wont hold forever. Seemded like a "quick fix". However i have understood that car things is very fishy in US sometimes. I watch both Goonzquad and Kondor Buildz on youtube. They both use primer over bondo over a weld. (which will make it rust pretty quick).
Me myself and i would never use it. I prefer touch up paint with 2k clearcoatAnd some real epoxyprimer as ground
