  • Engine Detailing Help

    Hi Mike,

As per your suggestion I've created a new thread - thanks.

My question was... what product(s) do I need and how do I engine shampoo?... this would be my first time detailing/shampooing my engine... I'd like to do it on both the BMW and Cavalier...

    Your help is much appreciated

    Thanks!

You're going to need to get some degreasers from our Professional Detailer line, and also an engine dressing. You might first start out by trying to find a professional detailer with engine detailing experience and ask him to show you what to avoid in you engine compartments as there are likely some components you want to avoid getting wet with water or with chemicals.

Engine detailing is an area of the car you don't want to approach haphazardly.

Do you have any of our degreasers and dressings already?

get the APC from the PRO line. dilute it, cover the electricals and spritz it on the engine. (try to avoid hitting the painted areas) it would be better if the engine is warm to the touch when cleaning it. cuts to the grease faster... don't blast your engine with water BTW.

what I do is a i use a sponge soaked with water to clean up after APC.

you're going to need some rags, brushes of various sizes to get to the nook and crannies of your engine bay.

while you're at it, you can also do some polishing / waxing on the painted areas.

after cleaning your engine, spruce it up with some dressing and some metal polish. Hyper Dressing, NXT Metal Polish and Engine Kote (if there's still any) are my faves...

      hope this helps.
