  • Opti Coat

I googled Opti Coat and most of the discussions were a few years old. Probably Opti Cost has improved
or maybe there are now other similar or better products.

What do you recommend? For these products, I know that we should still wash the car, not sure about waxing.

    Re: Opti Coat

Well Optimum discontinued opti-coat for the consumer version and replaced it with gloss coat. Opti-Coat Pro and Pro+ are for authorized installers only.

As with all coatings waxing is not needed. The self cleaning effect of the coating will shed the wax within a a couple weeks. For those weeks, the water behavior will be that of the wax or sealant.

Washing is of course still going to be needed. Coatings are not set and forget. Some coating manufactures have coating maintenance products.

      Thanks, Gus.

      Does opti coat eliminate swirls?
How about scratches? Can I use the usual products like Ultimate Compound to polish out the scrarches?

No. Coatings are not impervious to scratches or swirls. They help better at wash induced marring compared to a wax or sealant.

Polishing will remove most coatings and one would have to re-coat.
