  • What the heck is inside quick detailer?

I attempted to clay my car with the quick detailer that comes in the clay bar kit. I instantly felt a pounding headache and dizziness, even though it was not hot outside. This was only after 5-10 minutes of claying. I had to take acetaminophen and continue with just water, which works exactly the same, you just have to use more. No more headache or uneasy feeling. I'm being poisoned by this. What is inside this product? They even put it on the package, "If you feel sick, take fresh air or get medical help" lol I'm already outside and it wasn't windy. The quick detailer is meant to be used on the exterior, so how could you take fresh air, when you are already on fresh air?

and just like ALL Meguiar products, you can't open the bottle, so you can't even dilute it with water to make it less potent, less harmful. Why do they do this? Why not allow the customer to open the bottle, so we can stretch our product/money? No other detailing manufacturer does this as far as I know. How far Meguiar's hunger for money can go? The same goes for their Hot Rim Wheel Cleaner. It is probably one of the best products for wheels and tires, though expensive for what you get, the least they could do is give us the option to mix it with water.

Here is a link with a partial discussion.
An individual in another forum indicated Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer has the propensity to strip LSPs because of product ingredients specified on the product's material safety data sheet; glycol ether and isopropyl alcohol are the materials in question. The individual stated: "The hazardous ingredients in Megs UQD

Just as each of us have different preferences for the end result of a combination of products, each of us as individuals react to different things introduced to our immediate environment.

I have a known allergy to a common ingredient that is rather uncommon allergy. That ingredient is used to make a consumer friendly fragrance for one, and possibly two products. Therefor I avoid using those products.

Do you know of any sensitivities that you have to particular ingredients or chemicals?
Do you have reactions to Ispropyl Alcohol? Any of the antifreeze chemicals? Cleaners like Simple Green (I sneeze around it)? Any fragrances?
I would encourage your use of disposable latex gloves and a light weight mask, like a cough mask in a Dr office.

I had a female friend that I worked with. Some days she would come into my office and I would soon stop our business discussion and try to find out who was spraying for bugs. About the eighth time this happened, she said: "Knock it off!" " You do this every time I wear $$$$ perfume". It seems I had a different reaction to this well known high $ perfume than most people.

We are sorry to hear about your experience. Quik Detailer is a very mild product. Your experience is not common. We are aware that some persons have sensitivities to fragrances from time to time. Many of our products do have fragrances so possibly this was the case with your experience.
