  • Swirl marks and oxidation

I have a question that I really need help on. I am attending a car show this weekend and wanted to get my car sparkling. I was unsure of how to get some slight oxidation out of the passanger fender and to fix the swirl marks on my car.

This is the process I came up with...

    Wash
    Clay
    Wash
    Polish/Glaze
    Wax
    Wax

I have the Gold Class Liquid wax at home and everything else needs to be purchased probably at Pepboys or something. What products should I buy. (the names and the product numbers please)

    Thank you

    Here's your order,

    Wash
    Clay
    Clean
    Polish
    Wax

You don't have to wash again after claying, simply wipe of any clay and quick detailer residue as you move along.

    Next, a question...

    What are you working on?

Do you know if the paint is a clear coat finish, or a non-clear coat finish?

This will help us to tell you what paint cleaner to use. Plus, it sounds like you're going to do all of this by hand?

its a clear coat finish on a 2003 Acura RSX that has been well taken care of. Also, can I wax my rims?

        Here's the quick answer,

        Wash
        Clay
        ScratchX
        Deep Crystal Polish
NXT Tech Wax - 2 thin coats

Spend your time upfront with the ScratchX and do a really good job of applying it and working it in. This product will remove the oxidation and most of the light swirls, for deeper swirls, you'll need to apply 2-4 applications.

Work a small section at a time, and overlap each new section into the previous section. Keep these sections about a foot squared.

Check out what we taught the owner of the below car to do by hand with his carbon fiber hood.

        Europrojektz at Meguiar's!

        Here are the results.

Remember, this was all done by hand and it was to my knowledge the first time this person had ever used any of these products.

Not bad, definitely a dramatic improvement from where he started.

Here's the owner doing all the work by himself to his own car. His first time using these products.

Yes, if they are clear coated you can treat them like paint.

Here's a how to article on using ScratchX

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

Best of luck at the show this weekend!
