  • Cadillac "Coach Roof" stain removal?!

I'm set to do a detail job on a Cadillac Deville that has a fabric "Coach Roof". This roof has a stain right in the middle of it, apparently it is oil that dripped from the automatic garage door opener above it. What products and techniques would be able to get rid of the stain, without making it worse or altering the color/condition of the roof itself? I can post some pics, if need be...
    Thanks for your help!

I'm going to guess this is going to be either very difficult, or impossible. At least without affecting the material in such a way that nobody can tell you worked in one area.

We make some cleaners in our Professional Detailer Line, and we have a carpet and fabric cleaner in our Consumer Line, but to clean an oil spot out of fabric an not change the appearance of the fabric, (more-so than what it already has been changed by the stain), will be next to impossible.

Perhaps the route would be to use some type of pre-cleaner and then some type of power extractor? It might be better to bow out of this job, or at least the roof and only take care of the paint.

I know I'd if it were mine.

Perhaps something like Amazing Roll Off or trying Folex in an extractor.

Hope it works out for you!

thanks for the quick response! Luckily, the owner realized how next to impossible it would be, and decided to just let it be. It still took quite awhile, even without doing much for the roof(Wow, those Caddie's are BIG!)

Yeah - its hard to remove those stains without destroying the material. You can try a product like simple green, but be sure you really rinse the top well.
