  • Hiding clear bra edge

I read a thread with pics of a guy who Zaino'd his car with so many coats that he had enough buildup to hide the edge of the clear bra.

That seems overboard yet does raise an interesting question, could the same be done using wax? I personally don't want to try to apply 10 coats, yet has anyone thought of this before? tried it before?

      Agree with Mike's comment...

Most of the "clear bras" are around 10 mils thick. It is NOT possible to build up any type of polish /wax / polymer etc... to that level or even come close to "hiding" that edge...

            C320 with Zaino
I'm not sure if you'll have to register to see these or not.

Not exactly what I mean about enough buildup to hide the edge, yet the same effect.

5 coats of zaino and a couple on the clear bra itself. The most convincing pic is the front fender. I can completely see my clear bra from similar angles in pics of the same resolution.

Anyone with Meguiars pics that show what the clear bra looks like?

Agree with the pictures of the MB where you can't really see the "clear bra"....However, keep in mind lighting, clouds etc....Pictures can play alot of tricks on you Take swirls for example...Take a picture in the direct sunlight and you see swirls, now move ever so slightly away from the sun, now the swirls are gone

That is why when we do side by sides and post photos it is always in direct sunlight !!! Worse case scenerio for swirls...

There are many companies out there offering different versions (Thicknesses) of these vinyl coatings....Maybe you can do some research and one that is a bit thinner, thus giving you less of an edge ????

Still the bottom line is NO waxes or polishes, will eliminate that line.

I think too, that anyone that would claim they could add enough wax or polish to build-up enough of a thickness of the product on their car's paint to equal the thickness of their clear bra would call all of their credibility into question.
