  • Aww Crud.

Hiya guys. Great place you've got here. It seems like you guys know your stuff, and I'm totally confident in the products sponsoring this board, so I'll beg a little advice. I put my very first coat of wax on our brand new baby the other day, and found out after I was polishing off the NXT liquid that I waxed over some waterspots on the hood (no shade for me to wash her in; it dried just a few seconds too fast for me to rewet while I was working, I guess)... what's the best way for me to get those spots off now? I was planning on putting on another coat this coming weekend anyway...

If it's an isolated spot or just a few spots, you can probably get to it with Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner to remove the spots. If that doesn't cut it, move to Scratch X. Afterwards, top with a polish, then 1 or coats of NXT. Since the car is new, you may not need the polish step, it all depends on what you are looking for.

If the spots are all over the car, you can still use the steps listed above. I mentioned the isolated spots because it would be a shame to have to re-do the entire car if it has just been waxed.

Thanks, Philly. How much elbowgrease is required to get Deep Crystal to work well? Can you use too much?

One other option would be to wash the car with some distilled white vinegar diluted in water. If the spots are relatively fresh, this tends to work quite well. It also depends on the type of spotting you have, if it is above surface, you should be able to remove it with water/vinegar, if it is below surface you will have to get fairly aggressive and polish to remove them.

          Hi poerboy........Welcome to MOL.

If the spots are fresh, then it shouldn't take much effort to remove them..........Try rubbing a little more NXT on the spots with a bit more pressure.

If that isn't enough then you could try Deep Crystal, as it is very safe to use........I've used it many times on the same area with a DA polisher.
