  • I need a little help here

    Hey all,

So I detailed my 2003 Jetta (gray metallic color) over the weekend (Saturday) which involved washing with the Gold Class soap, claying with a clay magic clay bar, and then waxing with Deep Crystal Liquid Wax. I let the wax haze up for close to an hour before removing it. Yesterday we got a few sprinkles of rain and left some pollen and water spots on the paint. They weren't that visible, but I could see them while driving. The windshield had spots too. Nothing crazy, but they were there.

I always like to keep my car as clean as possible, so today I gave the car a quick clean up with the UWWA, followed by ultimate quik wax. I felt my paint afterwards and it almost feels like I lost a bit of the wax I applied Saturday. It didn't feel as slick in other words. Almost rough and like there was drag or something. My towels were clean, practically brand new, washed only once. Perhaps this is just my imagination and me being hyper aware of everything, but could the waterless wash have messed up my initial wax? Is the ultimate quik wax causing an issue? Is there even an issue? I'm just worried that I've wasted time making my car pristine and now the wax is shot.

    Thanks

If you left the wax haze up on your paint for over a hour, there's a good chance that it got hardened up too much and you've left quite a few residuals on the paint while buffing it out.

Take a closer look under good lighting and see if you can find any dried up streaks or holograms, and use a damp MF towel with QD to remove to residue.

No need to let that wax sit for 1 hour before removal. It is ready as soon as it has hazed. It should not take more than 10-15 minutes here in California.

The immediate slickness of a freshly applied wax fades after the first wash. Is the paint still sheeting and beading? If so the paint is protected and the wax is still protecting. Ultimate Quik Wax will get slicker the following day. The waterless wash contains a wax in it so that would leave the paint slick for a few days.

I am thinking the rain knocked down some of your "just waxed feeling." Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax is a great product, but it is also not necessarily the most durable wax we offer, especially for a good day of hard rain. If you are not satisfied with the performance, you are always welcome to contact our Solutions Hub at 800-347-5700 or customercare@meguiars.com for a full refund or to try another product of equivalent value.

I haven't checked the beading yet, but I have a good feeling that it will be fine. It is supposed to rain on Thursday where I live so I will inspect it then.
